About Ally

My path to becoming a therapist has always been guided by curiosity about people's stories, a passion for understanding human complexity, and a commitment to social justice and equity. I studied English and Gender Studies at Vassar College, then spent time traveling and working before returning to New York to earn my MSW from Hunter College in 2012.

Since then, I've worked in many settings that have deeply influenced the therapist I am today: supportive housing for New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS, advocacy and therapy with sex workers, family support in the South Bronx related to immigration and public benefits, and social work in public high schools. Along the way, I've also volunteered with organizations like the Sylvia Rivera Law Project and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative and curious. I believe that my relationship with clients must be built on trust, and I focus on facilitating a space where you feel safe enough to reflect honestly, face challenges with support, and practice new ways of living with more ease.

The heart of my practice is a balance of advanced clinical training and consistent self-reflection. Since becoming an LCSW, I've completed advanced training in Holistic Sex Therapy (two-year certificate course), EMDR, gender-affirming letter writing, as well as courses at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy, and Maternal Mental Health Now. I see ongoing study and reflection as essential, both to honor the complexity of my clients' lives and to continue growing myself.
